Scripture Memory Challenge

I have decided to get serious about memorizing scripture.  I have never really developed the discipline.  The other day I came across the following blog post on the ESV.org blog while checking out their new study bible (which is incredible if you have seen it yet -go here).   I would like to share the blog with you and some other helpful resources.

Here is the initial blog post that I read:

Then…

Listen to this excellent interview of Dr. Andy Davis:

He also preached on this subject at a recent Founders Conference which is very helpful:

Watch the following for inspiration:

If you have a little more time here is the recitation of all of the book of Hebrews: http://www.esv.org/blog/2007/09/ferguson.hebrews.complete

I will be posting on my memorization experience over the next 26 weeks.

  1. Thanks for this post, Michael! What an encouragement! I have been neglecting my own memorizing goal of 1 John, and it is very inspiring to have talked to you about it, and also to see these videos of not only reciting, but of this man speaking the Word with a passion that reflects the impact of the passage. Thanks for the renewed desire to hide God’s Word in my heart that I might not sin against Him.
